King's Cup

King's Cup

What is Kings Cup actually?

Or also called Circle of Death.
In this blog, you'll find the fun rules of Kings Cup! Kings Cup, also called Circle of Death or Ring of Fire, is a very popular drinking game.

Kings Cup is a card drinking game in which, depending on the card you draw, you must perform an action. The goal of Kings Cup is quite simple: drink a lot!
In this blog, you'll find various possible actions for the cards. You can, of course, modify the rules and actions as you wish.

This is what you need

  • a normal deck of 52 cards (a Skat deck of 32 cards also works)
  • a glass/mug or a shot glass for the Kings Cup
  • Other players (at least one, but the more the better)
  • alcohol

If you can't remember the actions, get Bechern ! Our game Bechern has fun actions right on the card, so there's no need for the tedious rule-explaining and discussion at the beginning. 😉

Construction

Setting up Kings Cup is quick and easy. First, a glass/cup or shot glass is placed in the center of the table. This depends on how you play. The shot can be filled at the beginning, or the glass can be filled with various drinks through an action. Next, the playing cards are placed face down around the cup. There should be no gaps between the cards. All players should have easy access to the cards and their alcoholic beverages within easy reach.

Regulate

Kings Cup is often played with different rules. The rules and actions vary depending on the group.

Usually the youngest, oldest, drunkest, soberest,
The most attractive or unattractive player. First, they draw a card, then the action is performed. The loser of an action must drink. After an action is performed, the card must be placed on the King's Cup. The various actions and detailed rules can be found below.

Bonus: You also have to make sure that there are no gaps in the ring of cards. The player who creates a gap in the ring of cards loses and must drink the King's Cup. This also applies if the cards fall off the King's Cup. The player who caused the gap also loses and must drink the King's Cup.

Actions

Eight = Drinking buddy
With this card, the player may choose a drinking buddy. Whenever the drinking buddy has to drink, the other player drinks with him. This applies in both directions.
Depending on the number of players, another pair of drinking buddies is formed on the next eight, or a new one is formed and the old one is dissolved.

Nine = rhyme
With this card, a word is said, and the other players, moving clockwise, must rhyme it. The word must always rhyme with the previously said word. Whoever doesn't think of a rhyming word first, or whoever says it incorrectly, has to drink.

Ten = Category

Category Ideas:
- Capitals
- Sexual positions
- Tree species
- Pokémon
- Cocktails
- People with whom “fellow players” have made out

King = King's Cup/ Rule
Whoever draws the King fills the King's Cup a quarter full with their own drink. Whoever draws the last King loses and must empty the King's Cup. This ends the game.
If you play with a shot, a rule is established at the King. The person who draws the King can make up a rule, and this rule applies until the next rule is drawn. Anyone who breaks the rule has to drink.

Rule ideas:
- after every sentence you have to say: “in my pants”.
- Whenever someone drinks, they must turn around in a circle before drinking

- Before you drink, you have to say a saying, for example: “If you rest, you rust.”
