What you need to play:
For the basic version
- 3 dice
- 11 beer mats
For the Pro version
- 1 Skat or poker deck
- 1 bottle cap
- 3 dice
- shot glasses
- Drinks of your choice
And this is how the drinking game works:
Basic version 🎲
The goal of the game is to achieve the highest total with three dice, with the youngest player starting the roll.
The number “1” on the dice counts 100 points, the “6” counts 60 points and all other numbers correspond to their pip values.
For example, if you roll a 1, a 6, and a 4, you get 164 points. After the first roll, the player can decide whether to roll again to achieve a higher score. 1s and 6s can be left out, but after the third roll at the latest, a player's turn is over and the next player takes their turn. Two 6s can also be converted into a 1. The best possible result is a Chicago, if you have three 1s, or 300 points.
But be careful: all other players only have as many throws as the person who started rolling.
For example, if the first player has finished his turn after 2 rounds because he was satisfied with your score, all the other players may only roll a maximum of 2 times.
The person who has thrown the lowest number at the end of a round gets a beer mat.
The game continues until 11 lids have been distributed. This was Phase 1 .
In phase 2, only those people who have at least one lid in front of them can play.
The game is played in the same way as in Phase 1, except that the person with the highest number gets to give up a lid.
Whoever still has a lid at the end is the overall loser.
Pro version 👨🏻🎓
For those who find the basic version too simple, the BEERBALLER community has come up with an expanded version of the drinking game. In addition to the dice, you'll need the following: a deck of cards, a bottle cap, and shot glasses with shots.
Basically, the game plays out the same way: Here, too, you try to achieve the highest possible total within three throws. Because of the possibility of multiple Chicagos, we recommend allowing each player three throws.
However, the loser of the dice round doesn't take a coaster, but instead draws a card from the skat deck. A red card means they drink the beer themselves, while a black card means they deal the cards.
The value of the cards is as follows: Number = one sip, Picture = two sips, Ace = three sips.
Now things get interesting: The player who draws the card can now decide whether to play "double-or-nothing," meaning he can, if he wants, try to bounce the bottle cap from the table into the shot glass within five attempts.
If he succeeds, he can completely negate the number of sips on a red roll, meaning he doesn't have to drink anything for the round. On a black roll, he doubles the number of sips to be distributed. If he fails, he must consume double the number of sips on a red roll and isn't allowed to distribute anything at all on a black roll.
If one of the players has three cards in front of him, he puts them together as a set and has to drink an additional shot.
A shot must also be taken if a player fails to roll at least a 1 or 6 within three throws.
When throwing a Chicago , the player who rolls it may decide whether he wants to delete two of his cards already in front of him or distribute one card to each of the other players.
The game ends as soon as the first player completes three sets, meaning they have drawn nine cards. This player is now the loser of the entire round and must also drink their drink.
Tips and tricks
- Always use the opportunity to convert two 6s into a 1
- Practice bouncing into the shot glass at a low stake before you risk it on a red ace, for example
- As soon as you have already beaten one of the other players in the score, you can go for Chicago
- Even if it seems tempting to distribute cards to each player in a Chicago, it is sometimes tactically wiser to delete cards in front of you
- Do not bounce the bottle cap from too close or too far from the glass
Conclusion
With this drinking game, no evening should be boring. By the time the bottle cap has been daringly sunk for the first time, the fun factor should be clear to everyone involved, ensuring a good mood and a decent alcohol level for you and your friends for a long time to come 😉
