The most popular drinking games in the world - Part 2

Die beliebtesten Trinkspiele der Welt - Part 2

The drinking game world tour continues!

Our search for the best drinking games worldwide is entering round two. We're still willing to take a closer look at each country.
That's why we've picked out a few more countries and are looking at what people there are playing to get the party started 😉

Of course, Beer Pong is rightly a staple everywhere, so we don't need to dwell on it any further, do we? Instead, let's focus on games we might not necessarily know here in Germany.
However, it would be great to play international drinking games at the next party. Are there any drinking games that can compete with our Cups or Shot Pong ? Let's find out!

Our first part of the “Drinking games around the world - series ” can of course also be found on our blog.

Join us on the ultimate drinking game world tour – where will we go today?

Australia

You can't get much farther from Germany. Nevertheless, we still feel a connection with the Aussies because they share a passion with us: their love of beer. So it's no surprise that they have some fun drinking games up their sleeves. You'll certainly notice that these games require little to no preparation. Perfect for spontaneous drinking game sessions.

Number 1: Thong Toss
Don't worry, this isn't a thong throw-away. In Australia, flip-flops are called "thongs," which is probably a bit confusing at first.
Admittedly, this game is relatively simple, but that's all the better because no equipment is required. All you need is flip-flops. Other shoes will work, of course. They should ideally be of a similar weight so no one is disadvantaged.

The aim of the game: To throw your flip-flop further than the rest.

To spice things up a bit, you can come up with different throwing techniques for each round. Throwing through your legs, throwing backwards, or with your eyes closed. There are no limits to your creativity.

Number 2: Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi
It seems our friends from Down Under are big fans of simple drinking games. The flow of alcohol is definitely their priority. This game is usually played on Australia Day. However, you can play it at any party.

In effect, every time someone shouts "Aussie Aussie Aussie" and forgets to respond with "Oi Oi Oi," everyone drinks. You can shout the words as many times as you like throughout the evening. That way, no one will be left out in the cold.

United Kingdom

Even though our dear island friends have left the EU, they remain known for their bountiful drinking habits. Therefore, it's worth taking a look at England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Number 1: Mr and Mrs Drinking Game
This drinking game is especially popular among students because it definitely heats up the mood and can sometimes get a bit awkward. So it's suitable for a very close group of friends or couples. The game is ideally played with four people.

Two people stand back to back, so they can't see each other. Then the rest of the group starts asking awkward questions. The more risqué the better, that's the motto. 😉
However, it can also be questions like “Who is funnier?” or “Who would rather…”.
If the person thinks the question fits them better, they take a drink. Since both players can't see each other, it's also possible that both take a drink. In that case, both have to take another shot.
If neither of them drinks, they also have to drink a penalty shot.

Of course, you can swap after a while. A very simple drinking game that's all the more effective.

Number 2: Paranoia Drinking Game
This game will put your friendship to the test. That's why a group of really close friends is a plus. Otherwise, someone is sure to end up upset! 😉
It truly deserves its name.

This is how it works:
You sit in a circle or around a table. One player starts and whispers a question into the ear of the person sitting to their right. Quietly enough so that the rest of the group can't hear it. It should be questions like "who looks the best of all of us?" or "who has slept with the most people?" Then that person has to answer the question by pointing at the person. That player can then demand to hear the question. This is only possible if they take a shot. There will definitely be a few awkward moments. But that just makes things more fun.

South Africa

Our third country is on another continent. After Australia and Europe, it's now Africa's turn.
South Africa is known for many great things, but drinking games from the country are probably not well-known here in Germany. So we definitely have to check out some of them.

Number 1: Springbok Drinking Ritual
In South Africa, there's a very famous liquor called "Springbok" (named after the national animal and the national rugby team), and it's said to taste exceptionally good. It's a mix between Pfeffi and a local "Amarula." It's usually served at celebrations, but South Africans also love to use it in drinking games (very cute!).

In the end, the “ritual” goes like this:
Each player clasps their hands behind their back, stomps their feet, and snorts through their nose. It sounds very strange, but it's meant to evoke the national animal in the wild. During this time, the players must then bend their heads down and take a shot. All without using their hands and with all the stomping and snorting. This is more difficult and humiliating than you might initially think.

There's nothing more to say about this special ritual. It's best to just try it out.

Number 2: Drinking 30 Seconds
This game is one of the most popular drinking games in South Africa. It's especially popular at dinner parties. It's essentially a bit like "Taboo," as one player draws a card and tries to explain it to their teammates within 30 seconds. However, certain keywords are not allowed to be mentioned. However, there are penalties for the entire team if a keyword is mentioned or the word isn't guessed.
The local version of this game is full of South African slang that we'd certainly never guess. Don't worry, we have games like that for sale here, too. You can also easily make the drinking game yourself.
Now we've examined three new countries for drinking games. Our diagnosis: absolutely drunk! We love it.

Which countries do you want to see in Part 3? Let us know on Instagram or TikTok . Until then, we hope you enjoy Australia, the UK, and South Africa!
